26 • PENNSYLVANIA RESTAURANT & LODGING matters • Spring 2019 MEMBER MILESTONES Central Chapter The culinary and management teams from the Milton Hershey School took top honors at the fifth annual Pennsylvania ProStart Student Invitation, hosted by the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel in February. The teams will represent Pennsylvania at the National ProStart Student Invitational, May 8–10 in Washington D.C. Lancaster Chapter The Belvedere Inn was among Open Table’s Top 100 Most Romantic Restaurants. The list, which includes restaurants in 33 states, was compiled on more than 12 million verified diner reviews of more than 28,000 restaurants. Lehigh Valley Chapter Congratulations! Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School student chefs were named Souper Bowl Champion during the 10th annual Souper Bowl. The winning soup was a Pumpkin Bisque with Smoked Gouda. The team also earned Judges’ Choice in the Best Ethnic category with its Puerto Rican Sancocho. The event benefits the non-profit ArtsQuest Arts Education Fund. Lehigh Valley Restaurant Group has become a 2019 Sprint Car Series sponsor with Heffner Racing representing driver Ryan Smith. LVRG will also assist the race car team’s owner in honoring the life of veteran driver, Greg Hodnett, who passed away in 2018, with a series of fundraisers to benefit his family. Berks-Schuykill Chapter Singer Equipment Co. acquired EVI Inc., a leading foodservice equipment contract dealer serving multi-unit and independent restaurant operators. The company is based in Maryland. Brandywine Chapter Victory Brewing Co. celebrated its 23rd anniversary with a release of three new year-round offerings: Twisted Monkey, a Belgian-style beer, No Brainer IPA, and Cloud Walker Hazy Juicy IPA, and a new, contemporary look to its packaging. Buck-Mont Chapter Visit Bucks County recently welcomed three new team members: Kate Isbel, digital communications manager; Megan Marianelli, graphic design assistant; and Kristen Green, visitor information coordinator.
