26  • PENNSYLVANIA RESTAURANT & LODGING matters • Fall 2019 MEMBER MILESTONES Bucks-Mont Chapter The Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board hosted its second Revolutionary Events Showcase at Bluestone Country Club to highlight what Valley Forge and Montgomery County have to offer as a meetings destination. More than 100 meeting professionals from the Greater Philadelphia area joined the staff in the annual event to learn how Montco is a premier destination for meetings with 75 hotels, transportation and audio/visual providers, and 300 cutting-edge venues. The Revolutionary Events team also explained how the VFTCB can help support future events and offer savings and rewards programs for booked business. Central Chapter In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Arooga’s Grille House & Sports Bar has partnered for the sixth consecutive year with the Feel Your Boobies foundation for a month-long fundraiser. Arooga’s has raised nearly $50,000 for breast cancer awareness through this annual partnership. Keystone Chapter The Tavern Restaurant’s owner Pat Daugherty received the inaugural James Madison Award for Civility in the Community at the Constitution Day Centre Celebration in September. According to the event’s organizer, “Pat Daugherty is the perfect individual to receive this inaugural award. For decades, he has treated patrons at the Tavern with dignity and respect.” Pat is a past PRLA chairman. Congratulations! Brandywine Chapter On June 25 seven Victory Brewing Company staff and family members participated in a hands-on cleanup of the Brandywine Creek (the brewery’s water source), arranged and guided by The Brandywine Red Clay Alliance, a recipient of funds from Victory’s Headwaters Grant. Working from canoes furnished by Northbrook Canoes it was reported that the Victory team missed “not a scrap of trash” for the follow up crew to discover. Since 2015 Longwood Gardens and Victory Brewing Company have worked together to craft a line of signature brews that use ingredients grown in the renowned garden. From lemons to peaches, cherries to nectarines, grapefruits to strawberries, Victory has created 10 beers in the Longwood Seasons line that have delighted guests from the very first sip. The gardens recently gave guests a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to create the popular brews during a Meet the Experts program. Longwood Horticulturist Tim Erdmann, Beer Garden Chef Adam Kapa, Victory Brewing Company Founder Bill Covaleski, and Director of Brewery Operations James Gentile shared insights into the creation of Longwood Seasons: Summer Strawberry during the event. The Longwood Beer Garden is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening until 9 p.m. through October 27.
