Winter 2018 • PENNSYLVANIA RESTAURANT & LODGING matters • 27 MEMBER MILESTONES In October, the Holiday Inn Harrisburg-Hershey, located in Grantville, announced that it will be affiliated with two companies. The hotel’s operating company, Valor Hospitality Partners, merged its hotel management operations with Wilson Hotel Management LLC (WHM), a subsidiary of Kemmons Wilson Companies (KWC). According to a press statement, “The new entity will leverage the strengths of both companies to continue delivering award-winning service that owners and patrons enjoy and have come to expect.” Keystone Chapter The Keystone Chapter’s September meeting featured Dr. Diana Sorrentino, security and intelligence operations expert at Lehigh Valley Paladin . Chapter members and their guests were presented with eye-opening statistics, personal accounts, and suggestions for the identification, intervention and prevention of workplace violence. Thank you, Dr. Sorrentino for another great chapter presentation. Also, thank you to the Days Inn Penn State for hosting the chapter. Lancaster Chapter Congratulations! The Warehouse Hotel was awarded Best Hotel with Meeting/Event Space (fewer than 200 guest rooms) during the 2018 Best of Pennsylvania Meetings & Events Readers’ Choice Awards. The hotel’s restaurant, Forklift & Palate was awarded Best Restaurant with Private Dining Space and Spooky Nook Meetings & Events won Best Meeting/Event Venue. Dr. Diana Sorrentino of Lehigh Valley Paladin was the guest speaker at the Lancaster Chapter’s November meeting sharing information on workplace violence preparedness and prevention. The meeting was hosted by the Courtyard by Marriott Lancaster . Lehigh Valley Chapter Way to go! The Lehigh Valley Restaurant Group’s Red Robin Restaurants raised $84,150.52 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through many and varied fundraising events throughout 2017. Events included a golf outing, fashion shows, car shows, bake sales, and more as well as pinup donations at individual restaurants. The Lehigh Valley Chapter hosted a half-day professional development seminar, titled “Flush Out Fact From Fiction,” led by Dr. Diana Sorrentino of Lehigh Valley Paladin on November 8, at the Best Western Lehigh Valley Hotel & Conference Center in Bethlehem. This fascinating session on interviewing techniques and body language amazed all who attended. ➔
