To support the endeavor of reinvigorat- ing the magazine, Aimee and our board have formed a new Publications Commit- tee, which I will be chairing through this year. The new committee also includes Scott Fein, Greg Crites, John McCoy, Tim Kent, Samantha Tanner, Brian Portwood, and Aimee McAuliffe. If you would like to participate, please contact me or send suggestions through your chapter repre- sentatives. The committee duties will be evolving as the year progresses, howev- er, through this transition we have come to realize the Publications Committee section of our Operations Manual is sig- nificantly out-of-date. The current manual does not reflect how we have been func - tioning for some time, therefore, the first priority of the committee will be working to update the manual. Additionally, we will be assisting with sourcing content for the magazine and working on new format ideas for the magazine in 2021. The new format goal is focused on en- couraging member input in the future. For years, Greg and others have sought (pleaded for) content from members, with mixed success. We hope, with this opportunity, that we can create a mag- azine format which members can relate to, plan for, and regularly contribute their stories to. Goals for the future are to encourage folks to provide a diverse cross section of stories from all corners of the state. This might be your favorite surveying story, new technology or meth- odologies, outlooks on professionalism, surveying history, and more. Set aside your stage fright, pick up those keyboards, and give your writing skills a try. Vanessa stands ready to help you sound like the Shakespeare of Surveying by the time it hits the page.
