The Scholarship Commit- tee is working on awarding applicants for next year’s school year. The newly formed Steering Committee, chaired by Shaun Fidler, is working with all PLSO committees in updating their charters. The goal is to get the Operations Manual up to date, making sure all our activities follow our mission statement and stra- tegic plan. Questions being asked of the committees are: 1. What do you see a surveyor being? 2. What direction do you think the PLSO should be moving towards in the next five to 10 years? 3. What do you think your committee should plan to accomplish? New ideas regarding education andmore will be assessedby the Steering Committee as well, to ensure it reflects our mission and goals. It’s safe to say that PLSO has a lot of plans for the future, and we want you to be part of it. As I’m sure you’ve heard me say be- fore, a successful trade association finds strength in numbers. The more people we represent, the more we can get done. Legislative leaders listen to larger groups. Purchasing programs provide more, and shared knowledge between community colleagues is easier to access. I understand that renewingyourmember- ship with PLSO by July 1 probably isn’t at the top of your mind. You’re busy coping, playing catch up, explaining to cli- ents why everything is taking longer, and find- ing new ways to get stuff done. Some of you may be struggling financially. These have been challeng- ing times and we want you to know that we are here for you. PLSO membership has a grace peri- od until September 1. It is our hope that will be enough time for you to regain the solid footing to feel comfortable continu- ing involvement with your professional peers in PLSO.
