PLSO The Oregon Surveyor January/February 2020

20 The Oregon Surveyor | Vol. 43, No. 1 News & Events O n November 7, 2019, PLSO mem- bers, Paul Landau, Austin Bell, and Ivan Donahue (Wasco Coun- ty) participated in the second Annual Columbia Gorge college and Career Fair at the Fort Dalles Readiness Center in The Dalles, Oregon. Other Gorge Sur- veyors in attendance were Joe Dickinson (Bell Design) and James Klein (Klein & Associates). The schools from the Gorge that were in attendance included Arlington High School (HS), Columbia HS, Dufur School, Glenwood HS, Goldendale HS, Horizon Christian School, Lyle Schools, Pacific Crest innovation academy, Sherman coun- ty schools, South Wasco county schools, Spray HS, Stevenson HS, The Dalles HS, Trout Lake Schools, Wahtonka Community School and Wishram HS. It was a 5-hour event, with many students showing in- terest. Thanks to Bell Design and Wasco County for providing a drone and total station instrument to display. The number of schools had been expand- ed for this year, so we were almost always busy talking with students. Unfortunate- ly, Hood River HS was unable to attend as there was a conflict with exams. That should be resolved for the 2020 event. We handed out a fair amount of litera- ture and hopefully planted some seeds for future surveyors. Thanks go out to Jered McGrath and John Putnam for helping facilitate the booth transportation. Speaking of the booth, it was my second time using the latest rendition of our booth. Much easier to transport and set- ting up was a piece a cake.  x Career Fair November 2019
