Professional Land Surveyors of Oregon | www.plso.org 5 From the PLSO Chairman to be a professional and there is no time like the present to start. You never know you might even find out you like it! Look for a niche that interests you and then grab hold and make the job your own. It doesn’t matter how big or small it is if you just contribute. On that note, here are a few who are doing just that and setting a great example: Many thanks to Gary Johnston for his long time role as our Financial Chair and even more thanks to Kelly Miller for stepping into his shoes and becoming our new PLSO Financial Chair just moments af- ter her retirement as Chair of the Young Surveyors Network. Thanks to Ben Stacy for his contributions as Scholarship Chair and thanks to Dar- ren Cone for volunteering to take on the role as our new PLSO Scholarship Chair. Many thanks to John Thatcher for his con- tributions over the years as our West Fed representative and so many other tasks. John is stepping down, but his continued input is valuable as PLSO evaluates the future of this representation. Thanks to Scott Freshwaters for taking up the open position of OSBEELS Liason. Be sure to give kudos to the folks when you see them, and in themeantime consid- er what your role will be in the future. x
