Secretary Sun Tzu wrote in “e Art of War” that great results can be achieved with small forces. e famous general and philosopher explains that combined energy demands less of each individual when a momentum of strength is created. is philosophy applies perfectly to PLSO membership and attending the 2016 Conference— Measure of Tomorrow—in Eugene on January 20–22, 2016. Being active in PLSO, whether it’s volunteering your expertise and time or attending chapter events and the Annual Conference, makes our profession strong. Sometimes it’s dicult to understand the value of membership or tempting to nd other opportunities that oer PDHs. I understand. Even nonprot professionals struggle with membership dues for their own associations and time management for involvement. However, it is exactly this division that weakens our forces. “Measure of Tomorrow” is about being ready. We have a lot ahead of us. School programs are shrinking. Technology is increasing. Our workforce needs to be prepared. Strategic planning requires maneuvering our forces, holding hands with allies, surviving the terrain and not depleting our resources. Help us combine our energy to increase our strength. Together we can shape our future closer to what we want.
