25 www.ortrucking.org Issue 1 | 2021 ATA Cancels National Truck Driving Championships for 2021 After much deliberation, American Trucking Association (ATA) made the decision to cancel the 2021 National Truck Driving Championships & National Step Van Driving Championships (NTDC/NSVDC) this year, which had been scheduled for August 11–14 in Minneapolis. Citing challenges including travel bans, equipment donations, CDC restrictions, and the inability for state associations to host events prior to August, ATA elected to take a “safety first” stance in thanking drivers for all they’ve been doing in the last year. NTDC will return in 2022, scheduled to take place in Indianapolis. “Scaled-down” National SuperTech Announced for 2021 ATA’s Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) announced that its signature Transportation Technology Exhibition on Sept. 12–16 will be held in-person during TMC’s 2021 Fall Meeting at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland. The event will also include a scaled- down version of its National Technician Skills Competition— TMCSuperTech 2021. No specifics on what that will look like yet. INDUSTRY EVENTS
