With the November election only a few weeks away, political leaders have retreated to their corners to assess which punches will give them a win. How do average citizens, and businesses who have come to realize that their future is dependent on a government that allows them to do business, come away from this process with prospects for a better future? You get involved in the election process. You contribute to Truck PAC, so that as an association we can leverage our influence more productively to help your business. You participate as a Key Contact to help us build relationships with legislators on both sides of the aisle so they better understand the trucking industry. You show up when we schedule our Trucking Day at the Capitol next year (provided we are allowed in the Capitol!) and you help spread the trucking message. And …you vote! An informed, well researched and well-thought out vote that will help right the ship of our government. We need elected officials who are willing to listen to all their constituents and not just the ones with the biggest checks. You also help us build our membership in the Oregon Trucking Associations. As members, you are OTA representatives, our ambassadors. We are much stronger together and we need participation by trucking companies that are not a part of our organization. We have worked to build programs and services that are valuable to your business: better training in the trucking industry, insurance programs that help to keep your costs down, drug testing services that are an effective management tool, and events that allow you to gain perspective and relationships. (We are counting on being able to meet together soon!) We are your partners to build a better and more profitable trucking industry. Help us help you succeed. Spread the word that being a member of OTA is important. Even—or especially—amidst the chaos.
