29 www.ortrucking.org Issue 3 | 2020 Industry Bids Farewell to Trucking Icon Chuck Ireland, Jr. Chuck Ireland, Jr. passed away unexpectedly on June 3, 2020 at the age of 63. Chuck was a legend in Oregon’s trucking industry, especially logging. He built up Ireland Trucking to be one of the largest privately-owned log hauling companies in the Pacific Northwest. Chuck was an advocate for the transportation and timber industries, and he was actively involved in issues ranging from rural fire departments, local community health clinics, and politics. Beyond work, Chuck enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was creating memories with his family, hunting, or operating heavy equipment and working on projects at both his ranch in Summer Lake and in Myrtle Creek. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Stacy; his son, Charles III and wife Amber; his daughter, Kayla; his grandchildren Kaylee, Regan, and Weston; his mother Patricia; his brother Robert; his sisters Marilyn and Frances; numerous aunts and uncles; and nieces and nephews.
