OTA Dispatch Issue 3

10 Oregon Trucking Associations, Inc. Oregon Truck Dispatch EVENTS 2018 Oregon Truck Driving Championships New Location, Drone Footage, and Publicity at One of the Safest Events in the State Old Dominion Freight Line | Portland, OR | June 16, 2018 OTA’S ANNUAL TRUCK DRIVING CHAMPIONSHIP (TDC) switched locations this year to Old Dominion Freight Lines in North Portland. With over 550 attendees and lots of energy on the course, it was a huge success. We know our drivers prepare for this event months (or even a full year) in advance and are some of the safest in the state, and it shows! In addition to the famous Foster Farms grilled chicken, Charlie’s Produce gave away plenty of watermelon this year. OTA board member, Mark Gibson with Siskiyou Transportation, arranged for drone video footage of the event by his pilot from sister company, Timberland Helicopters. The 2018 TDC video is available on the OTA website and our YouTube page. TDC is one of the only public-facing events, and we were excited to see some legislators as well as media at the event. You can read the post-event article titled “The Lifeblood of Oregon’s Economy” on our news page online. Thank you to our drivers who competed at TDC. Special congratulations to Chris Outen, our Grand Champion two years in a row and to all the winners of the competition. We’d like to recognize Heladio Fernandez, Oregon driver with FedEx Freight, for placing 3rd at Nationals in the Four Axle class. We would also like to thank our sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who came to witness the extraordinary talent of our truck drivers. If you have never been to TDC, we urge you to bring your team or friends and family next year to celebrate our industry. See you in 2019!
