OTA Dispatch Issue 4 2017
34 Oregon Trucking Associations, Inc. Oregon Truck Dispatch TECHNOLOGY & MAINTENANCE COUNCIL TMC Maintenance Fair & SuperTech Competition Mark your calendar for March 9-10, 2018 at the Holiday Inn—Portland Airport! P lans for the 2018 TMC Maintenance & Education Fair are already underway, with the focus once again on the information and tools our industry technicians need to stay up to date and keep things running in the shop and on the road. The event on March 9 offers a full day of training sessions, including topics and certification in brakes, electrical and vehicle coupling, as well as shop management. The morning sessions will be followed by a lunch break with the vendor partners who will have their latest services and products on display for technician attendees to explore. Afternoon sessions will cover ELD technical issues, cyber security in the shop, and will end with a round of shop talk. The following day, Saturday, March 10, technicians competing in SuperTech 2018 will start their days fully caffeinated before tackling the written test portion of the competition. Upon completion, the technicians will then rotate through stations testing their skills in a variety of areas. Winners will be announced, and prizes will be passed out at the end of the day, with the finalist going on to represent Oregon at the national competition later in the year. SuperTech is much more than just a head- to-head competition. While technicians can put their skills and knowledge to the test against other individuals, teams of three or more are also encouraged to participate. Plus, organizations can use the results to help plan for future training. Scores in various areas can highlight where additional training might be beneficial. SuperTech is a perfect networking opportunity for students and potential employers! OTA and TMC encourage you to get involved and make plans now for the Maintenance & Education Fair and SuperTech 2018!
