This legislation grew out of the need for PAs to provide medical team care and be recognized as first line providers in Oregon. A PA member will now be present at all OMB meetings and be able to add to the discussion of how medical teams are utilized in Oregon. In addition, House Bill 2880 was passed to improve the ability of PAs to work with their supervising physicians or radiologic technologists to perform fluoroscopy that would be documented in their Practice Agreement with the OMB. This bill creates a pathway for a PA to be able to gain a permit from the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging. PAs will need to complete an 80-hour curriculum and pass a fluoroscopy examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. The OMA and OMA PA section are continuing to give feedback in creating administrative rules for these bills as well 28 Medicine in Oregon www.TheOMA.org
