In Oregon, as in other states, one of the main drivers of acuity is the increasing prevalence of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Approximately 65,000 Oregonians currently have a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s or dementia. 12 This number is projected to grow significantly. By 2025, over 84,000 Oregonians will have a diagnosis of dementia—a 29% increase in less than ten years.
