His dental and risk management experience allows him to manage the unique risk exposures related to the delivery of dental services and partner with insured dentists in their mission to improve patient safety and minimize risk. Dr.Chillura received his Bachelor of Science andMaster of Science degrees in Biology, as well as his D.M.D from Fairleigh Dickinson University.He was awarded a Certificate in Conscious Sedation from Montefiore Medical Center and opened his private prac- tice onWall Street, NYC, in 1976. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry and the Fraternity of International College of Dentistry. Dr. Chillura was a member of the New York Forensic Dental Society and served as a forensic odontologist with the NYC office of Chief Medical Examiner identifying victims from the September 11 terrorist attack. Dr. Chillura participated in the REACH OUT America Healthcare for veterans of foreign wars, the Ethics and Mentoring Program at NYU School of Dentistry and has served on the National Advisory Board for the Professional Protector Plan for Dentists since 2008. He also received a certificate of merit from both New York and Connecticut for donating dental services during their Mission of Mercy events which provide free den- tal services for the underserved. Dr. Chillura was recognized with the Distinguished and Meritorious Service Award for the 9/11 dental forensic identification. He resides in New Jersey with his wife, Deb, and has two grown children David and Lindsey. He is a commercial rated general aviation pilot and a certified race car driver at Sports Car Club of America. Attendees will be provided with practical suggestions and approaches that can successfully avoid common hazards which often increase the likelihood of malpractice claims against the dental practitioner. The course also is designed to explore how professional liability policies work and to demonstrate the wisdom of having your practice protected by professional liability insurance. OBJECTIVES • Dealing with the dreaded claim • Risk control measures • Standard of care and deviation • Challenges of modern dentistry Kevin Earle Kevin Earle is a member of the risk management team with the Professional Protector Plan. He served as the executive director of the Arizona Dental Association from 2008–2019. He is the former executive director of the Arizona Board of Dental Examiners and spent twenty years regulating professionals in the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs. He was the Executive Director of the New Jersey Board of Dentistry for many years, and regu- lated several other categories of health care profession- als, including the Board of Medical Examiners. He is also affiliated with Performance Partners, Inc., a Scottsdale, Arizona based practice support orga- nization dedicated to serving independent entrepreneurial dentists. Kevin is an Honorary Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the Interna- tional College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He holds a BA in Public Affairs from George Washington University, an MBA from Rutgers University and an MPH with a concentration in health policy from Columbia University.
