8 New Mexico Dental Journal, Summer 2019 On June 8, the NewMexico Dental Association held a special dinner to honor four NMDA members with the Medal of Distinction. The award is bestowed upon a NMDA member for exceptional lifetime achievement, contributions to the profession and service to organized dentistry. It is the highest honor that the NMDA can award a member. The 2019 recipients included Dr. Shelly L. Fritz, Dr. Robert J. Gherardi, Dr. Thomas J. Schripsema and Dr. David D. Warren. American Dental Association President Dr. Jeffrey Cole and 14th District Trustee Dr. Dan Klemmedsen were on hand for the ceremony.
