4 HCAOA The Voice MEMBER NEWS HCAOAMEMBERS TOOK TIME IN JULY TO REVIEW the regulatory state of play and set continued work in motion for the home care industry at the 2019 HCAOA Congressional Lobby Day. Via a combination of outstanding regulatory education and meetings with members of Congress and their staff, HCAOA members took the message of the home care industry. Programming for the HCAOA Congressional Lobby Fly-In began on July 24 with educational sessions led by HCAOA lobbyist Patrick Cooney of the Federal Group, executive director Phil Bongiorno, and Matt Boever of Home Instead Senior Care. Our members also heard from officials at the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs and from Capitol Hill staff working on immigration policy which may help address the shortage of home care workers. The following day, prior to meetings with their members of the Senate and House, HCAOA Members convened in the Capitol Building for a breakfast session which included a discussion of the Home Care for Seniors Act featuring staff from Congresswoman Katie Porter (D-CA).
