4 California Hotel & Lodging Association WinTeR 2016 I look forward to forging new partnerships that touch our communities, while keeping sustainability initiatives and education top of mind. iT iS TRuLy An HonoR and pleasure to be your incoming Chair of the California Hotel & Lodging Association (CH&LA) and I know that this promises to be another great year. I am further privileged and honored to work with such a strong, dedicated and passionate team of professionals within the organization. I personally look forward to working alongside Lynn Mohrfeld and his team as we further the organization’s mission to advocate, educate and communicate on behalf of the industry. There are many industry related issues that are in front of us as we enter our new year, and our priorities will continue to be aligned with your concerns—which include, short term rentals, homelessness, and minimum wage issues at the local, regional and state levels—coupled with a myriad of state legislative matters that impact our industry and stakeholders as a whole. To further our impressive collaborative philanthropic efforts last year that raised more than $300,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, I look forward to forging new partnerships that touch our communities, while keeping sustainability initiatives and education top of mind. For the state, San Francisco will play host to this year’s Super Bowl 50 which promises to keep the Golden State in the limelight, creating both economic and social benefit by bringing people together and also giving back in a meaningful way and leaving a lasting impact. I know I echo the entire Board’s sentiments when I thank you for your membership and support and I look forward to working with you in having another successful year.  Thomas Klein CH&LA Chair regional Vice President & General Manager, Fairmont San Francisco MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR
