San Diego THE SECuRITy ALLIANCE FORuM & exPO (SAFe) was 22 California Hotel & Lodging Association FALL 2015 held in San Diego on September 9th at the beautiful Catamaran Resort. over one hundred attendees were welcomed by San Diego Police Chief Zimmerman, who emphasized how important these conferences are to help security professionals stay in communication and work together. networking was an important part of this conference with attendees able to network and share ideas during meal and rest breaks. The education opened with Todd Seiders, Director of Risk Management for Petra Risk Solutions, presenting on how to reduce your security risks, including what to do when law enforcement requests guest information or has a warrant or subpoena. Kasey Markoski from the San Diego Center for the Blind, presented next, discussing service animal requirements and regulations. After a networking break, Kelly Wilson from the Department of Homeland Security, and Matthew Miller from the San Diego Law Enforcement Coordination Center, presented on active shooter tips and prevention. Sargent Chris Cameron with the San Diego Police Department, presented information on how to curb prostitution and human trafficking. Glen Garrity of G2 identify Management, presented on what to look for to identify a fake iD. He also reviewed how to recognize counterfeit currency. Lunch was served outside overlooking the sparkling shores of San Diego’s Mission Bay. After lunch, Dr. Mark Marvin from P.E.R.T. (Psychiatric Emergency Response Team), and Lieutenant Debra Farrar with the San Diego Police Department, wrapped up the day with a presentation which included role-playing on how to deal with the mentally ill and homeless. CH&LA is looking forward to hosting more events for our member’s security personnel.
