Hospitality has long been known as a career field that promotes from within. Making professional development and certification a priority reinforces that image and helps employees to build their dream job with the support of their employer. AHLEI works with hospitality organizations to design career paths that take employees from line-level jobs to management positions, with the training support to move confidently from one position to the next. And while some employers express concern that employees will leave their organizations once they have received on-the-job training, the truth is that workers want to stay with organizations that invest in them. When your company’s human resources department takes the time to work with employees to build a professional development plan, it sends a message that they are valuable to the organization and that the organization expects that the employee will stay with them and continue to grow and contribute to the success of the company. That message is a great morale booster, which will show itself in increased performance levels, higher retention, and confident service.  About the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) Established in 1953 as a nonprofit education and training arm of the American Hotel & Lodging Association, the Educational Institute’s mission is to continue being the preferred provider to the lodging industry, hospitality schools, and related hospitality industries by developing and providing quality resources to educate, develop, and certify hospitality professionals worldwide.
