The Signal | Mar/Apr 2019 11 ATSSA News This year’s NWZAWmedia kickoff event will be hosted on Apr. 9 by the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) at the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge in Washington, D.C. The location is DDOT’s largest roadway infrastruc- ture project to date, and the event is being held at the location to highlight real-life work zones, and the dangers they pose for roadway workers. How can you get involved in NWZAW? • As a leader in the roadway safety industry, contact local media to share information about work zone safety and NWZAW, as well as your family, friends, and co-workers. • Host an event in your community to spread awareness. • Like, comment, and share ATSSA’s NWZAW social media posts throughout the week (don’t forget to use #NWZAW and #Orange4Safety)—social media is an important tool in spreading the message of work zone safety. • Visit ATSSA’s Facebook page to download the NWZAW profile filter to show your support for the campaign. • Provide safety training to employees involved with work zones. • Commit to slowing down and driving carefully in work zones. • Thank a roadway worker for the important work they do to keep our roadways safe.
