The Signal | Mar/Apr 2019 15 Government Relations In January, 27 ATSSA members met with 32 Texas legislators about legislation related to roadway safety infra- structure and how it saves lives. “I enjoyed meeting with Texas legisla- tors to share insight on our industry and the importance of investing in roadway safety. We were able to speak about adding TxDOT contractors to the state’s ‘move over/slow down’ law, which is an important step in reducing work zone fatalities in Texas,” said Swarco Southwest Regional Manager Frank Coghlan. The goal of the Texas ATSSA Chapter is to positively impact legislation in the state that supports roadway safety in- frastructure and roadway workers. They have made the first successful steps toward that effort with their ad- vocacy day visit.
