American Traffic Safety Services Association 44 Chapter News Wisconsin Chapter Virginia Chapter The Utah ATSSA Chapter met at the Utah Department of Trans- portation (UDOT) office in Salt Lake City on March 21, with 24 people present including five from UDOT. The chapter president outlined future plans including an upcom- ing election—the first official one to replace interimofficers—and welcomed two UDOT speakers. Topics covered included UDOT project updates, a Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware (MASH) The Virginia Chapter of ATSSA met on Go Orange Day in Norfolk. There were 34 people in attendance, including seven from public agencies. The Virginia Department of Transportation presented its latest work zone crash statistics and traffic control device specifications and materials updates. Chapter Treasurer Bess Crowley reported on the chapter’s holdings and made a request to sup- port National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW). ATSSA Chapter Liaison Angel Ramos urged members to engage with their respective national technical committees and provide Utah Chapter update, variable speed limit initiatives, and implementation of the recommendations carried over from the prior chapter meeting. The chapter created the work zone variable speed task force and a MASH task force. The chapter will meet again to discuss the need for a standards committee. programs like Every Day Counts that can benefit ATSSA member companies. A presenter from the Right Road Job Placement and Training Program shared new information on a partnership be- tween ATSSA and FailSafe-ERA to help returning citizens get back into the workforce as flaggers.
