American Traffic Safety Services Association 38 Guardrails Save Lives Guardrail are under scrutiny in the media, and ATSSA members can stand together to share the message that “Guardrails Save Lives.” On Nov. 8, ATSSA launched a campaign that focuses on how guardrail and median barrier save lives. When someone hits a guardrail, we may not have a data point, or know whose life was saved in the crash, but we know it was someone’s. Roadway departure crashes account for over 50 percent of vehicle traffic fatalities, and properly installed median barriers and guardrails have been shown to reduce fatalities and serious injuries in these crashes by 26 percent according to the Federal Highway Administration. During the Guardrails Save Lives campaign, stand together with ATSSA members from all segments and show your support for the roadway safety infrastructure industry.
