American Traffic Safety Services Association 30 The Foundation The American Traffic Safety Services Foundation (The Foundation) exists to promote roadway safety through charitable giving and public awareness programs. The Foundation’s Mission Making the pledge 3M’s Toward Zero Deaths Virtual Pledge Wall donations to be accepted through Feb. 12 3M’s Toward Zero Deaths Virtual Pledge Wall is available for donations to The Foundation from now through the last day of ATSSA’s 49th Annual Con- vention & Traffic Expo, Feb. 12. Toward Zero Deaths is a national initia- tive to eliminate highway fatalities. As part of this initiative, 3M’s Transporta- tion Safety Division has presented the wall at the ATSSA Annual Convention & Traffic Expo. The pledge wall promotes roadway safety through charitable giv- ing and public awareness. The wall will be virtual moving forward and starting at the 49th Annual Con- vention & Traffic Expo there will be a monitor and laptop near the exhibit hall entrance, where attendees can make a pledge online. Each pledge will scroll on the monitor during the con- vention. While there is the opportunity to donate on-site, all ATSSA members and Foundation supporters are encour- aged to pledge before the convention by visiting www.3m.com/pledge. “The Foundation greatly appreciates the support and commitment of com- panies like 3M,” said former Founda- tion President Tom Wood. “Spouses and dependents of roadway workers who were killed in work zones will be able to continue their higher education dreams and receive financial assistance with Foundation scholarships because of 3M’s initiative in sponsoring the pledge wall.” The 3M pledge wall raised $20,000 in 2018, which included the company’s $5,000 match. The funds raised as part of this effort help fund The Foundation’s programs, like the Roadway Worker Me- morial Scholarship. The Foundation’s Roadway Worker Me- morial Scholarship provides spouses and dependents of roadway workers who have been killed or permanently disabled in work zone incidents with financial as- sistance to continue their education. In- dividual scholarships for this program have a value of up to $10,000.
