American Traffic Safety Services Association 36 Training News ATSSA Trained: A commitment to excellence in roadway safety Every Job. Every Day. Every Time. That’s themantra that guides ATSSA’s training philosophy, ensuring that road- way workers across the United States are getting quality training that allows them to perform their job correctly and efficiently, and while helping them ar- rive home safely each day. “Our training is the most widely accept- ed roadway safety training in the United States. We’re nationally recognized, and that’s not something our competitors can truly say,” said ATSSA Director of Training Jessica Scheyder. While ATSSA’s training is widely recog- nized in the roadway safety industry, there are important elements that you may not know about. ATSSA’s training is flexible. ATSSA holds training courses year round, scheduling popular courses like the Traf- fic Control Technician (TCT) course and the Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) course, across all 50 states. The classes are set based on data that outlines where demand is throughout the country. But what you may not know is that if you don’t see the course you need in your area, you can reach out to ATSSA and we’ll work to schedule that training for you. “If you know you’re going to need training, and you don’t see any upcoming cours- es in your area, just give us a call,” said Scheyder. ATSSA’s training is offered in multiple formats. AWhile ATSSA’s open classroom courses and online courses are popular formats used across the country, the association offers additional hosting options. If you’ve got a large group within your company that needs the same training, ATSSA can coordinate a closed classroom course, which offers a significant cost savings. Another option companies are beginning to use more frequently is the co-sponsor option, where smaller groups can still enjoy ATSSA training at a loca- tion of their choice, while allowing ATSSA to fill the remaining seats. This helps companies save money, while having the added benefit of on-site training. ATSSA has experienced trainers that customize content to state-specific standards. ATSSA has experienced instructors from across the country that deliver and main- tain the association’s training courses. These instructors teach the national cur- riculum, but they also drill down into state-specific requirements, so that workers are trained about standards that they’ll come across i in their own state. The vast amount of knowledge ATSSA instructors possess is another facet that elevates ATSSA above the competition. “One of the major things that sets ATSSA training apart is the level of expertise among our instructors. They’re subject matter experts of the highest caliber, with a wide range of experience in their respective fields,” said Scheyder.
