American Traffic Safety Services Association 26 Member Company & Agency News Korman Signs Inc. works with 3M to showcase safety products during ATSSA site visit Association member companies participate in engagement benefit The 3M Transportation Safety Divi- sion’s Road Show&Demo Truck stopped by traffic signs manufacturer Korman Signs Inc. in early May. The event was held at the sign manufacturer’s more than 100,000-square-foot facility in Rich- mond, Virginia, and allowed roadway safety industry members the chance to view the latest innovations in traffic con- trol safety products. The truck features interactive demos and driving simulations as well as prod- ucts including reflective sign sheeting, pavement markings, work zone signs and devices, intelligent transportation systems, and digital printing samples. Staffmembers of Korman Signs Inc. also provided event attendees with tours of the facility, where all parts of the sign products are manufactured, from the bases and posts to the graphics on the signs themselves. Korman Signs Inc. President Bill Korman Jr. said the event was a great way to share innovative ideas with not only industry members but also people in their local communities. “It was a wonderful opportunity to be able to share with those involved in the traffic safety community. The develop- ments that are being made to make our roadways safer, the new products and technology, and having 3M bring in the demo truck allowing people to view some of the technologies face to face made the event a great success,” Korman said. “When we were presented with this op- portunity, we felt it would be very ben- eficial to a lot of people in the roadway safety industry to see what goes on and how safety products are made. Attend- ees got to see how we make and man- ufacture the different products that en- hance work zone safety and now are able to share this with the rest of the industry.” It is an initiative of ATSSA to strength- en the communication between mem- ber companies and to increase the as- sociation’s presence at the company facilities. All of ATSSA’s departments are dedicat- ed to serving association members through various programs such as or- ganizing site visits with legislators and member companies, ATSSA’s Employee Immersion Program (a program started in 2017 that allows ATSSA members to host an association staff member), and site visits to the facilities of ATSSA chap- ter members.
