The Signal | Nov/Dec 2018 35 The Foundation Submit names for National Work Zone Memorial The Foundation is accepting names for inclusion on the National Work Zone Memorial. Named “ The National Work Zone Memorial - Respect and Remembrance: Reflections of Life on the Road,” the traveling memorial honors those who were killed in work zone crashes across the United States. The last day for submissions for the 2019 iteration of the memorial is December 1, 2018. Names will be accepted following the Dec. 1 cut-off, but will be considered for the following year. Work zone workers, motorists (except impaired drivers), pedestrians, law en- forcement officers, public safety officials, and childrenwhowere killed inwork zone crashes are all eligible tohave their names added to the memorial. The memorial currently honors 1,455 in- dividuals, 12 of whomwere added in 2018. The memorial travels across the country to ATSSA and roadway safety events each year in honor of thosewho lost their lives. “For many families and loved ones, add- ing a name to the National Work Zone Memorial is part of the healing process. It’s an impactful way to honor the lives of those lost in work zone crashes and who leave behind a legacy that will not be for- gotten. As the memorial travels across the country, it is a strong visual reminder of the important work that remains to advance roadway safety and move To- ward Zero Deaths on our roadways,” said The Foundation President TomWood.
