The Signal | May/June 2018 39 ATSSA adds new Director to Government Relations team ATSSA hires new Associate Director of Communications & Creative Development David Bell is the newest member of ATSSA’s Government Relations team, serving as the Director of Government Relations. Bell holds a Bachelor’s in Criminal Jus- tice and Political Science from Rutgers University. He brings additional policy, advocacy, and grassroots experience to the team, with his past work as a staff assistant for New Jersey Congressmen Jon Runyan and John Adler, field advance for Gov- ernor Mitt Romney’s presidential cam- paign, director for Prime Advocacy, and in a policy role for the Portland Cement Association. “My experience working for elected offi- cials for both parties and with all types of people demonstrates my ability to effectively lobby on behalf of all ATSSA members,” said Bell. Bell expressed his excitement about the ATSSA Legislative Briefing & Fly-In and having the opportunity to advocate for roadway safety. “People don’t realize how much work goes into advocating for roadway safety. The industry needs a voice,” said Bell. The newest addition to ATSSA’s Market- ing and Communications (Marcom) De- partment will help promote public aware- ness of the association’s core mission to advance roadway safety through various mediums, such as publications and social media. ATSSA’s Associate Director of Commu- nications & Creative Development Stephanie Tipple will also represent the association externally at ATSSA and in- dustry events. She earned her Bache- lor’s degree in American Studies with a concentration in politics and society from the University of Mary Washington and is currently working on earning a Master’s degree in Business Administra- tion with a concentration in entrepre- neurship fromSouthernNewHampshire University. Tipple comes to the association with eight years of experience working in the communications field. She wrote for sev- eral notable publications including Po- tomac Local News, a Prince William-area news website, before starting her own online publication calledWhat’s Up Prince William, which currently recieves nearly 500,000 page views a month—making it one of the largest online publications in Prince William County. Tipple also serves on the Advisory Board to Family Services for the City of Manas- sas, which deals with local family ser- vices and public assistance programs. She most recently worked as the Direc- tor of Business Operations & Commu- nications for B&W Associates in Wood- bridge, Virginia, before beginning work at ATSSA. “I look forward to continuing to make ATSSA’s communications clear and effi- cient, and working to highlight the work of ATSSA members and how their prod- ucts and services are implemented in the roadway safety industry,” Tipple said.
