ATSSA Signal July/August 2018

American Traffic Safety Services Association 38 Member Engagement ATSSAmembers make the difference. As part of our continued commitment to transparency in our dues structure, the following provides information on the structure of full membership dues and benefits. The ATSSA Board of Directors has con- tinued the rate freeze on full member dues, which was originally put in place in 2014. The membership rates are vot- ed on annually by the board. The current annual membership dues for full member companies making less than $1 million in revenue is $890. An- other $405 is added to that total for every additional $1 million generated in revenue by the member company. These rates remain frozen at least through July 2018. The revenue is assessed each year through a self-reporting process and dues are capped at $51,000. ATSSA’s Director of Member Engagement Rita Rose stressed that the revenue in- formation reported is strictly used for determining dues, is not shared for any other purposes, and is not disclosed to internal employees outside of that scope. According to Rose, one important policy that members may not be aware of, was set by the ATSSA Board of Directors and relates to multi-company association members with common ownership. All individual companies or subsidiaries under any form of common or related ownership must be members of the as- sociation. Company owner(s) may not join the association through one com- pany while excluding another commonly- owned or related company from mem- bership, thereby paying less dues than would otherwise be required. This policy applies to all forms of common or relat- ed ownership of companies involved in the roadway safety industry as defined by the ATSSA membership categories. It does not apply to commonly-owned or related ownership of companies that are ineligible for ATSSA membership. In addition to understanding the mem- bership dues structure, it is important to understand the multitude of benefits companies and public agencies receive as members of ATSSA, says Rose. Among the top benefits are the strong industry-based community, networking ATSSAmembership Full member dues structure and benefits of membership opportunities with industry profession- als, access to quality member-only pub- lications, and government relations ad- vocates on the federal and state level. “When it comes to being an ATSSA mem- ber, you absolutely get what you put in.
