American Traffic Safety Services Association 10 Meetings & Conventions More than 200 transportation officials from across the country gathered at ATSSA’s 47th Annual Convention & Traffic Expo and discussed their needs related to autonomous vehicles, complete streets initiatives, compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), pavement marking issues, worker safety, roadway departures, and wrong-way driving. The group also addressed trends and countermea- sures to the increase in pedestrian and bicycle fatalities. Topics from the ATSSA Circle of Innovation have now been used in ATSSA webinars, articles, and a soon-to-be released work zone intrusion case study book that can be used by ATSSA members. ATSSA’s Circle of Innovation National ATSSA awards presented during Annual Convention ATSSA Innovation Award On Feb. 12, three prestigious ATSSA national awards were presented during the Opening General Session of ATSSA’s 47th Annual Convention & Traffic Expo in Phoenix, Arizona. Henry Ross, director of government relations at Plasticade, Skokie, Ill., received ATSSA’s Industry Achievement Award; Steve Kite of N.C.-DOT received ATSSA’s National Safety Award; and ShannonDeskins, a reporter at East Kentucky Broadcasting, Pikeville, Ky., received ATSSA’s National Media Award. The prestigious annual ATSSA Innovation Awards were given to select winners in recognition of the creative new products the companies designed and entered into ATSSA’s New Products Rollout during ATSSA’s 47th Annual Convention & Traffic Expo in Phoenix, Arizona.
