Louie University of San Fransisco On April 29, more than 20 entry-level MSN students from University of San Francisco’s Hilltop campus attended RN Day 2019. The students divided themselves into three groups based on their voting regions—San Francisco, the San Francisco Peninsula, or Silicon Valley—and took the initiative to meet with their district legislators’ offices to discuss their passion for several current bills. Students from San Francisco (District 11) met with Cassidy Denny, the senate fellow and healthcare staffer for the office of Senator Scott Wiener. Focusing on the Bay Area’s homeless crisis and its effects on the state’s overcrowded emergency departments, the students discussed AB 1534: Regional Homeless Management Planninwg Act and AB 329: Hospital Assaults and Batteries. Denny was taken aback by the students’ personal stories regarding homelessness, mental health, and the workplace violence nurses endure. She confirmed Senator Wiener would be supportive of these bills once they reach the senate, citing several other SBs he has authored that aligned with the students’ concerns, including SB 48: Right to Shelter, SB 50: Transit-Housing Development, and SB 159: Increased Access to PrEP and PEP. Students from Santa Clara and San Ma- teo (District 13) met with Senator Jerry Hill, seeking his standpoint on AB 890: Graduate Nursing Corner
