It’s hard to put into words exactly what this experience has meant to me. I am lucky to be surrounded by amazing fellow board members, and I am proud of what we have accomplished. As Treasurer, I have rewritten numerous policies to better protect our growing membership. By archiving outdated policies and approving new ones, we are better equipped to grow our investments, while providing programs and opportunities for our membership that are aligned with Past Director of Clinical Practice for the Association of Child Neurology Nurses and has an interest in pediatric headache management using mobile healthcare technology, and in innovation and evidence-based practice. “I am so humbled and proud to be a member of this wonderful organization. In my tenure as ANA\C Secretary, and as part of a productive and self-directed ANA\C Board, I have had the pleasure of meeting many nurses and nursing allies over the past years. I look forward to the continued opportunity to serve ALL California nurses at all levels and across all practice settings, and to the ongoing success of the organization and profession. Our ultimate goal as a profession is to achieve the Quadruple Aim— enhancing the patient experience, improving population health, reducing costs and improving the work life of clinicians and staff.” our vision. Additionally, we created a more robust budget to support our growing organization. I look forward to refining it for the upcoming fiscal year. Joining the ANA\C board as a brand-new nurse, I quickly learned the importance of being involved with an organization that protects and promotes our profession. I discovered the ability to advocate for myself, coworkers, and patients, and I owe this skill to my involvement with the ANA. Notably, I attended our RN Day at the Capitol, and ANA Hill Day and Membership Assembly in Washington, D.C. Each of these events further instilled in me the importance of using our voices to advance our practice and improve healthcare outcomes for our patients. On a more personal note, I recently completed my MSN in Health Systems Management and was appointed by the ANA Board of Directors to the ANA Political Action Committee for the next two years. To say the last two years have been exciting is a huge understatement. ANA has provided me with amazing opportunities, and I am overwhelmingly content with how it has helped me to integrate my previous education and work experience into my dream career of being a nurse. I look forward to what is on the horizon. 2019 Board Summaries
