ACPA Quarter 1 2019

Concrete Pavement Progress www.acpa.org 4 Bill Davenport American Concrete Pavement Association bdavenport@acpa.org  | 847.423.8703 THE COMMON THEME TO THIS ISSUE is the recognition of some extraordinary people and projects. Recognizing the extraordinary is something we have the opportunity to do once per year as we present the handful of what we collectively call the “Association Awards.” Some of these awards are bestowed upon individuals for their distinguished service to the concrete pavement industry and the transportation-construction community around us. Their accomplishments and examples of selfless and generous support of others is an inspiration. There’s also a select group of these awards presented to stakeholders (agencies, owners, and others) responsible for projects that exceed expectations significantly—whether that’s the intended design life, the sustainable construction practices (or other sustainability features of the project), or other exceptional attributes of the project. We also present an award, the Harold Halm Presidential Award, that is one of our rarest and least-presented awards. Although it’s tempting to write more about these awards—and to fill this page with the superlatives and other positive adjectives these people and projects deserve—we will instead let the awards and associated stories do the talking. They speak volumes about these extraordinary people and projects! Recognizing the Extraordinary CONCRETE PAVEMENT P ROGRESS Quarter 1 | 2019 Award Recognizes Village for Major Milestone
