Concrete Pavement Progress www.acpa.org 4 Bill Davenport American Concrete Pavement Association bdavenport@acpa.org  | 847.423.8703 IT’S ALMOST SUMMER, and after much of the country experienced the prolonged grip of a brutal winter, summer will be a welcome arrival! To celebrate, we are pleased to present a nice tour across the country…at least in the formof some project stories from some great places in these United States. We take flight with our cover story, which describes a reconstruction project at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport. We take a leisurely ride to Iowa to visit some long-lasting pavements originally built in 1921 and 1922. We’re grateful to the Iowa DOT and Todd Hanson for his help with the article. We round out our trip with a visit to Bourbon Street, where colored concrete, granite curbs, and new sidewalks have created a new look for this storied street and popular destination. We hope you will enjoy this short cruise around the country, and also invite you to tell us about concrete projects in your area. Whether the projects are old or new, we want to tell others about the exceptional work by agencies, contractors, and others. We also would like to publish and post your favorite summertime paving and pavement photos in this magazine and on social media. If you have photos to share, please tag us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, or if it’s easier for you, just send an email of your favorite photo, along with your name and company, to education@acpa.org . Have a great summer! Celebrating Summer!
