A number of different unions are specifically mass recruiting ABC SEMI workers in targeted companies, trying to recruit them away from merit shop employers with promises of high pay and benefits in order to help cripple the companies. Efforts include direct approaching of workers and even paid advertisement. In addition, the union is using intimidation and other means against general contractors to try to force the hiring of union-only contractors. We see stepped up activity especially in high profile and large scale projects in Ann Arbor and Detroit. We are noticing a more militant approach from certain unions. Our first goal is to be better at engaging our membership. To that end, we visited over 50 member companies in the 4th quarter of last year. We are working on continuing that pace for 2018. In addition to membership outreach, we are searching for some additional contractors to serve on our board of directors for 2019. Nominations are currently being accepted.
