Friends, We’ve just hit the high note of our year, as we celebrated the graduation of 33 apprentices from the SEMCA program and recognized a handful of contractors with Excellence in Construction Eagle Awards for completion of exceptional construction projects in Southeast Michigan. Our beautiful awards night gala had nearly 200 people in attendance. We recognized outstanding companies including Diponio Contracting, Douglas Electric, Robert Clancy Contracting, Inc., the Summit Company and Wm. Molnar Roofing, Inc. We would encourage companies to take an inventory right now of impressive projects you are working on and consider making an application early next year for one of our Eagle Awards. A highlight of our evening was honoring Jim Struble with ABC SEMI’s Chapter Legacy Award. Jim’s impact on the association and on our trade school has been profound. He’s not only a long-time successful businessman and electrical instructor, but he’s a role model and mentor to many. Jim sets an important example for us all. He won’t just retire one day having built a great business for himself. He will leave the overall industry better than he found it. He will have dedicated countless hours of volunteer time to support the association as an active board member of both ABC SEMI and SEMCA. And his legacy will be one of him laying the foundation of an industry-wide training school that benefits many. Struble sets the bar high for each of us. If you’ve not been actively involved in leading ABC SEMI or our affiliated trade school, I would ask you to consider such a role.
