EMERGING PROFESSIONALS L ess than a year ago, Associated Builders and Contractors Southeastern Michigan Chapter (ABC SEMI) launched an affiliate organization known as Emerging Professionals (EP). EP is a national organization recognized by ABC National and dozens of other ABC chapters across the nation. The Emerging Professional program was established to develop the next generation of leadership within ABC SEMI and to encour- age networking between the best and brightest of the young individuals in the construction industry today. In an effort to bridge the work- force shortage gap, the EP program addresses the oppor- tunity to engage young in- dividuals in assisting with leadership development at the chapter level. The EP program aligns with two key objectives, which include: Continuously grow and deliver value to a diverse and committed membership. ABC SEMI’s Emerging Professionals program is often used as a membership tool at the chapter level. If we can provide them further benefits, this will only increase. Our program will allow our member companies to engage the top talent entering the industry to become the future of the industry and ABC SEMI. With a successful EP program, ABC SEMI can stand out as the top association for leadership and professional development within the industry. Be the leading force in the construction industry for workforce development and training. The Emerging Professional programs offers networking, educa- tional events and provides resources to help the next generation of leaders excel in the construction industry. ABC SEMI’s newest Emerging Professional Steven Sattler, is a perfect example of the dedicated and driven individual EP is looking for in order to expand in 2018. Sattler attended West Point to become an environmental engi- neer. He is decorated Army veteran, who was recently hired as a project manager by Robert Clancy Contracting, Inc. NETWORKING ABC member company employees can expand their network among industry professionals from firms large and small, representing different regions across the nation through networking opportuni- ties that will bring young professionals together both virtually and at in-person meetings. NATIONAL EVENTS ABC National conferences will feature education and networking opportunities specifically geared toward young profes- sionals. By participating in national ABC events, these young leaders will learn about key issues, industry trends and can learn from some of the top leaders within the association. DISCOUNTS Through the ABC National program, Young Professionals will recieve major discounts on ABC National conference that occur throughout the year. These exceptional savings will allow young leaders within the industry to become more active within the association and equip them with additional knowledge to bring back to the office. CHAPTER RESOURCES Through providing resources such as a chapter directory of young professional programs, documenting best practices, programming and event ideas, as well as offering guidance for starting a local program, the national program will create a stronger young professional presence through the association. WEBINAR SERIES An exclusive webinar series will be offered through he Young Professionals program which will feature sessions on a wide range of topics including leadership tips, social media in the workplace, the latest in technology and much more. Education programming will also be included at ABC National conferences. PEER GROUPS The ABC National Young Professional Program will connect young leaders throughout the country and provide an organized outlet to share ideas and find solutions to challenges with others in similar job functions.
